Larkdight Studios Colorado Buffaloes' Program Rebuild (Season 1) June 9, 2025 5:00PM CST

With the Colorado Buffaloes entering into their first bye week of the season, following a huge and important win for the program against the #21 UCF Knights, now is as good of a time as any to check in with the program.
OVERVIEW
It’s been a wild and exciting start to the Buffaloes’ season, but they are sitting in a pretty solid spot. HC Deion Sanders really likes where this team is, but he knows they still have some improvement to make. That loss to Baylor at home in Week 4 really didn’t sit right with him, especially since they were up by 11 points in the fourth quarter, but he was proud to see the team bounce back in Week 5 with a blowout win over a ranked conference opponent on the road. The Buffaloes will take a minute to reflect in the bye week, before hitting the tape and getting ready for a big Homecoming game against the Kansas State Wildcats in Week 7.
There’s no doubt who leads this Buffaloes team in QB Shedeur Sanders (Sr) and WR/CB Travis Hunter (Jr), but they’re doing more than that by also leading the entire nation at their respective positions. Shedeur is averaging over 300 passing yards and nearly 5 passing touchdowns a game, while Travis is on pace for over 1,500 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns in his junior season. Travis is second in Heisman voting, but somehow Shedeur isn’t getting the same appreciation and love. He knows its because of the love/hate relationship people have with him, his dad, and the program. Regardless, this Buffaloes team is living up to the hype this season and that’s the hardest thing because of all the pressure that’s been thrusted onto them.
When it comes to recruiting, HC Sanders hasn’t been able to lock anyone up quite yet but there are a handful of four-star prospects coming to town for the bye week and Homecoming next week. He is confident that once they get inside the building, get around the team, and check out the improvements that have been made to the Buffaloes’ football facilities they’ll never want to leave.
