With the Florida Gators entering into their first bye week of the season, following an impressive 4-0 start to the season with wins over #20 Miami and #5 Alabama, now is as good of a time as any to check in with the program.
OVERVIEW
It may be a little premature to ask this question, but are the Florida Gators back? With a freshman QB in DJ Lagway and a brand-new HC in Nathan Meyer, this team was able to blow out the #20 Miami Hurricanes and QB Ward while also following up the next week by going into #5 Alabama and getting an upset victory. Now, they still have a gauntlet of a schedule ahead, but there are many rising superstars on this roster with guys like ED Tyreke Sapp, LB Shemar James, and CB Jason Marshall Jr.
In regard to recruiting, HC Meyer is going to be slow off the gates since he is an unproven head coach, but what he has going for him is a top ten program in Florida, great alumni and history, and his last name. Add the winning they are doing, and we just might be surprised by how well HC Meyer is going to do in recruiting. There are a bunch of five- and four-star recruits lining up to visit the Gators over the coming weeks, so keep your eyes open for some verbal commitments coming.
