With the Iowa State Cyclones entering into their first bye week of the season undefeated, following a huge and important win for the program against the Iowa Hawkeyes, now is as good of a time as any to check in with the program.

OVERVIEW

Cyclones’ HC Axel Armani has his team rolling early into their first season, with a perfect 3-0 record going into the bye week. Many people weren’t sure where the program would go when the experienced leader in HC Matt Campbell left for the NFL, but it looks like promoting Axel Armani to the position was indeed the right choice by the Athletic Department. It was a surreal moment for him being back on the sidelines of Kinnick Stadium, but this time as the Head Coach of the rival team. What was even better was that he was able to lead his team to an upset victory and continue on an upwards trajectory. Getting that win against Iowa will really pay dividends down the road with recruitment.

When it comes to recruiting, the Cyclones haven’t landed any commitment yet, but they are heavy on the recruitment trail. HC Armani has a strong personality that a lot of these recruits haven’t heard before. So, it is going to take some time for people to get ingratiated with him and this new Cyclones’ program before the commitments start raining in.
